:dancebun: Got to go caching today!!! Finally after a couple of months of no caching. There are a few new ones in my area, so I managed to get 5. A couple of them we had to abandon because of too many muggles in the area. Not too bad for a late afternoon run. All in all it was really good to get out and about. Got some really good ideas for cache containers.  One of them was a drain pipe, that wasn't. Just looking at it you could walk right by a thousand times. It was magnetized to the back of the building.  I am definitely going to copy it someday.

I get to go caching tomorrow!!!! I can't wait. I haven't been caching in a few months. Have 34 caches on my to do list, but it is an all mountainous route, so we'll see how many I actually get to. Taking camera, swimsuit, and towel for the river. Probably won't get wet, but I have to stick my feet in at least. I will update on my adventure over the weekend.

LOL, I've been looking a some gps devices especially for geocaching. So far, most I don't like the led screens and want something colorful. Problem is, those are much more expensive. LOL

You can use your Ipod for caching. There is an app. I love it. It is the only thing I use. Make sure you get the one from Groundspeak. I paid 9.99 for it, but I think it was totally worth it. I found caches  yesterday when I couldn't get a signal. Once you download the caches to the app, it will still find them. They have upgraded the App twice now, and it is much better. The more they improve it, the less need I feel for a GPS. I still have not ever used a GPS, and I am up to 187 caches.

I managed to only grab 6 caches out of the 34 on my list, hehehe. It got way too hot for caching and I went and jumped into the Kern river instead. Also went to a place called McNally's and hung out there for quite a long time. It felt so good to get out of the house and go for a ride. Making plans to go back in a couple of weeks and get some more off the list. Good excuse to hang out at McNally's and jump into the Kern river again.

I checked out reviews for that app and it seems it is a bit buggy, atm. I also checked out a few other apps. So, I settled on getting:

1. iGeocaching Toolkit - free and contains tools for decrypting code, etc.

2. Geocaching - not very accurate but otherwise seems to work well. I'll need to do some field testing.

3. Geosphere - $7.99 - seems to be more accurate but I think has a few less features. Needs some field testing.

I also upgraded to a Premium membership for Geocaching. :)

6 is better than none. LOL We've been swimming all weekend.
